45 cool events on in Hawke's Bay this weekend.

Extra tickets released for UB40 Hawke's Bay concert.

UB401

Organisers have today announced a larger venue for the UB40 Red Red Wine Vineyard Tour concert in the Hawkes Bay. The Black Barn Vineyards event, which sold out in under 4 hours, will be relocated to a nearby venue, Black Barn Offsite in the stunning Tuki Tuki Valley.

"Demand for the concert has been extremely high and we have all been inundated with requests for tickets," explains promoter Jackie Sanders of Jacman Entertainment. "Black Barn has worked hard to ensure we can accommodate disappointed fans whilst looking after the supporters who did book early. We are confident that this new venue will satisfy everyone and still be an amazing experience."

Black Barn Offsite is situated on Kahuranaki Road, on the banks of the Tuki Tuki River. Those who purchased tickets for the original concert will be recognised as ‘Premium’ ticket holders and will have access to the area closest to the stage. Part of this area will be set aside for those who bring chairs and bean bags. Original ticket holders will also have an express queue at the gate and will be wrist-banded to allow access to the Premium area.

"This is a great opportunity for Hawke's Bay" Black Barn events manager Francis de Jager added, "the Amphitheatre will always be the focus for our Black Barn concerts but it is great to also be able to introduce larger events with international acts to the region on an ongoing basis. The Black Barn Offsite venue will still have great views, the same great atmosphere, the same great wine and even closer parking"

The additional tickets go on sale at 9am, Friday 19 June via Eventfinda.co.nz. Bus services to the venue will be announced shortly.

UB40’s Red Red Wine Vineyard Tour takes place at Black Barn Offsite on Friday 8th January 2016 and gates will open at 5pm. The concert will finish approx. 10pm.

Comedy duo head to Napier

BigComedyShow

Two of New Zealand’s best-known comedians will perform a one-off show in Hawke’s Bay in July.

Ben Hurley and Dai Henwood are heading to the Bay for The Big Comedy Show at the MTG Hawke’s Bay Century Theatre in Napier on Friday 24 July at 8pm.

Big rugby league fans, the stars of TV3 show Seven Days had been asked by Melbourne Storm to ‘warm-up’ the crowd for the Melbourne Storm vs St George Illarwara game the following night at McLean Park, so decided to squeeze in a gig for their local fans the night before.

"It will be a big weekend in Napier for fans of comedy and league," says Napier City Council communications manager Robyn Mclean.

"Last time Ben and Dai performed at the Century Theatre, tickets sold like hotcakes so we are expecting the same this time around."

Tickets for The Big Comedy Show are on sale from today and can be purchased from Ticketek.

Also, there are still tickets remaining for the Melbourne Storm vs St George Illawara game, but those planning on going to the match are advised to get in quickly as some ticket categories have already sold-out.

Hastings Māori brothers remain steadfast despite burglary

Brothers Waireka and Rowe Te Meihana aren't letting a burglary get in the way of their musical aspirations.

Late last year, all their instruments were stolen from their Hastings home, so they've decided to perform their first gig tomorrow night to raise funds to get some new gear.

Waireka says, "It was pretty difficult because my sister had cancer then and we kinda used our music to help us cope with our adversity."

Their sister made a full recovery and their journey through adversity has seen them receive some much needed help along the way.

"A couple friends realised that they don't use their music stuff and so they donated to us which is very nice of them," says Rowe.

In hope to rebuild what was lost, the brothers will be performing covers from their favourite artist’s tomorrow night at Clearview Estate Winery in Hastings from 7pm.
