A Napier man has admitted the manslaughter of a five-year-old girl, but has denied sexually violating her.

Kerry Ratana's was charged with the manslaughter and sexual violation of Sahara Baker-Koro.

The five year old girl was found dead in her bed in her Onekawa house in December last year.

Ratana pleaded guilty and was convicted of the manslaughter charge when he appeared in the Napier District Court yesterday.

However, he pleaded not guilty to sexually violating her and was remanded in custody for a trial on that charge.
