West Quay

 West Quay

West Quay has a fabulous nightlife and is also a very popular area on weekends, with many sightseers and children fishing off the jetties and wharves.

Shed 2  is Wine Country's entertainment epicentre. In terms of history, few can boast such richnessナ.an Ahuriri icon which was the first establishment to emerge on the atmospheric West Quay. Step inside and you step back 125 years, for the converted storage shed goes right back to the days the square-riggers tied up just metres from its front deck.

Shed 2 is a historical microcosm of Ahuriri, with it's huge timber beams, wooden floor and glowing expanses of copper fittings it oozes atmosphere and rustic class.

The Gintrap is situated on the waterfront of Ahuriri. In August 2000 The Gintrap opened its doors transforming what was originally a disused woolshed to a modern waterfront café and restaurant. With its electric blue interior and natural timber floors The Gintrap oozes atmosphere and rustic charm of yesteryear. Sit out on the deck and soak up Hawke’s Bays warmer climate and watch the sunset or on those colder days and nights sit by the huge open fire and meet friends for a drink and enjoy a meal from one of our many menus.

The lunch menu is quite a relaxed affair, running Monday to Friday dining in the bar for a more casual setting or restaurant if formal or quieter surroundings are required. The weekday menu includes favorites like Smoked Salmon Filo Pie, Thai Beef Salad and Lamb Shanks. All of which can be ordered over the phone if time is of the essence.

Brunch at The Gintrap has become quite a big event. Available at weekends, start your day with a fresh juice or, if a caffeine hit is needed enjoy one of many Orb coffees. The menu ranges from a traditional Mixed Grill and Eggs Benedict to fresh Mussels or Fish of the Day. Relax and enjoy Saturday and Sunday at The Gintrap.

The Gintrap restaurant really has become a Hawke’s bay icon. Open from 6pm it is the perfect place to relax in a more intimate environment. With friendly, knowledgeable staff that are all too happy to help with any food or wine choice or just generally pander to your needs.
Our chefs create specialty dishes using fresh Hawke’s Bay produce - The menu has a slight mediterranean feel while still encompassing the traditional New Zealand flavours. The menu ranges from Eye Fillet Steak to Duck Confit or you could try the Calamari, which has become one of our signature dishes.
