Hawke's Bay police are urging locals to tune into their televisions tonight to help solve two recent robberies involving Hastings bars.

Tonight at 7.30pm, TVNZ crime show Police Ten 7 is featuring the aggravated robberies of two Hastings sports bars, Zabeels and the Horse & Hound.

Detective Kate Hyde said police are continuing investigations into both robberies but are seeking the community's assistance to identify the offenders.

"These are two well-known bars with regular patrons and the robberies impacted significantly on staff and locals alike," she said.

"We urge the public to watch the show and contact their local police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information."

In the most recent robbery, two bar staff at the Horse & Hound on Karamu Rd were robbed at knifepoint by an offender around 10.30pm on Saturday, July 2.

After demanding cash, the robber then forced the staff members into a car to help drive him away from the scene

In the vicinity of 133 Frederick Street the male demanded the victim driving to stop the car, then got out and ran off through properties.

A knife was also used in the June 7 robbery of Zabeels Sports Bar on King Street North in central Hastings by two men.

The two offenders entered the bar around 9.30am. One of the men had a knife which was used to threaten the bar staff. Cash was targeted during the robbery, and an employee was physically pushed around before the offenders ran from the bar, heading north on King Street, with the stolen money.
