No new power outages in Hawke's Bay overnight, but highways not expected to open before midday Sunday

Electricity lines company Unison Networks this morning advised its network across Hawke’s Bay, Taupo and Rotorua held up generally well to the overnight weather, with no new outages occurring.

Electricity has been restored after a two-hour region-wide blackout in Hawke's Bay on Saturday, but residents are being warned to expect further outages as the wild weather continues.

Hastings police treating Keirunga fire as arson, appeal for info

Tuesday night's "suspicious" fire at Keirunga started underneath the stand-alone flat beside the arts and craft society's main building (pictured), say police.

Hastings police have confirmed they are treating the blaze at the Keirunga Gardens Arts and Crafts Society inHavelock North on Tuesday night as an arson attack.
