Fur seals are increasingly frequent visitors to the region during winter, but can appear skinny, emaciated and look like they are crying, sneezing, coughing, or fighting. But it's all just normal behaviour and they should be given space, says DoC. Supplied.

The chances of coming across a fur seal while on a winter stroll along the Hawke's Bay coast increases markedly during winter.
